Joan is the founder and owner of Kuruc Law Offices in Raleigh, North Carolina.
She earned her law degree at Loyola University Chicago School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts with Honors at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
Joan focuses her practice in the areas of Construction and Lien Law, Construction Litigation, and Business Collections. In the Construction Law area, she represents general contractors, subcontractors and suppliers on both public and private projects. Typical contract and construction disputes involve scheduling and performance issues, unjust termination, delay and disruption, and lien and bond claims.
Joan also represents corporate and business creditors in the collection of accounts receivable, including the collection of foreign judgments.
Joan is an experienced trial attorney. She spent more than seven years as a prosecutor with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office where she took hundreds of cases to trial. Since her return to North Carolina in 2002, Joan has practiced exclusively in civil litigation.
